Aki Ajo’s team has been fertile ground for riders with two of this year’s first MotoGP winners, Miguel Oliveria and Brad Binder, who have graduated from the team for more than two seasons.
French star Johann Zarco won back-to-back Moto2 titles with him in 2015/16 before graduating from the queen category.
“Aki’s team is definitely the position to lift the game even more and with the KTM that looks so good in MotoGP, it motivates you more to evolve with such a wonderful logo and a circle of relatives of the team,” Gardner said.
“We still have to do a smart task next year, because there’s nothing written in stone for the future, but it’s a step in the right direction for my career. “
The 22-year-old is more resurprising in his hopes of progressing in MotoGP than his well-known father Wayne, the 1987 500cc World Champion, who expects a first season in orange to be rewarded with a rapid rise.

Ajo is also the manager of fellow Australian Jack Miller and oversaw Queenslander’s progress from a talented but undoful teenager to a Ducati driving force and a contender for the 2021 championship.
“I’m sure you know very well now how to take care of us (to the Australians), ” said Gardner laughing.
“It’s hard, which is good, all the pilots want a little love . . . I look forward to running together. “
The news of the contract is a pleasant relief for Gardner, who has suffered his unlucky percentage in his career to date.
Gardner is recovering lately at home in Barcelona after surgery to fix his damaged thumb in two strokes in a brutal 250km drop in last weekend’s warm-up in Misano; I had to start the race from the pole.
Gardner had two plates and six screws inserted into his right thumb so that the joint healed as temporarily as possible, while double fractures in his foot did not require surgery.
“We were back in the front row and it seemed like everything was going forward and, unfortunately, this crash happened in the warm-up, but I hope to be back for Montmeló (Catalan Grand Prix),” Gardner said.
“I’m going to give everything I can to regain my thumb movement and swelling, but we can go back and get smart effects until the end of the year. “
MotoGP returns to Misano this weekend for the time of his consecutive Grand Prix at the Italian venue before heading to Catalonia for the ninth championship.
