If you missed the opportunity to buy a new Porsche 918 Spyder in 2015, you have a chance. Sotheby’s Sealed Hong Kong auction offers a 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder with the Weissach package. The car has only 43 miles on the odometer and has never been registered. The auction is now open and will end on April 5.
It’s not very common for you to get the chance to buy a new hypercar with the logo of a nine-year-old model, but it’s one of the few opportunities. This 918 Spyder is finished in rhodium-plated metallic silver on black leather. It was commissioned again through the current owner almost ten years ago. However, this user never drove it and didn’t even bother to register it for the road. It’s essentially a new car.
Only 918 examples of the 918 Spyder were built. In addition, some 300,918 Spyders were sold in the United States and only 4 were delivered in Hong Kong. Seeing one is rare. This example is made even more special not only by the fact that it is fundamentally new, but also by its Weissach package. This $80,000 option includes magnesium wheels and other carbon fiber parts for cars, in addition to the roof, side mirrors, and rear spoiler. The result is a car that weighs about 88 pounds less than a popular 918 Spyder.
Maintenance records show that the high-voltage battery was replaced at the Porsche Centre Hong Kong in January 2024. A diagnostic check was carried out in February 2024 and no defects were detected. The tyres are the original Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 and were manufactured in 2015. If the new owner plans to drive this car, we recommend installing a new set of tires. Other than that, this car is drivable.
The pre-auction estimate for this Porsche is between $1,500,000 and $2,000,000. It’s not cheap, but it would possibly be the most productive example of a 918 Spyder out there. And if you didn’t receive an allowance for a vehicle in 2015, this may also be your last chance to realize your dream of owning a new one.
