For many years, McLaren has been strongly opposed to the concept of introducing an SUV or crossover. However, over the past 18 months, and with veteran Michael Leiters at the helm of the company, McLaren’s resistance to SUVs has begun to wane.
In fact, Leiters has said that he is open to the concept of a McLaren SUV and has made it clear that such a vehicle may not hit the market until 2028.
If in the end the British logo chooses to emulate the racing of Ferrari, Aston Martin and Lamborghini, what would your SUV look like?Well, designer Sergiy Dvornytskyy has come up with such a vehicle, and it looks so realistic that one might think. It’s a car straight out of McLaren’s design department.
This is the first time we’ve come across Dvornytskyy, nor his first attempt at designing a magnificent SUV, as he did last year with a W12 quad-turbo SUV for Bugatti. Obviously, its design is encouraged through existing McLaren models, adding the 750S.
The front end of the SUV can be described as simple and elegant. It features an undeniable pair of LED headlights in the familiar McLaren shape, as well as a perfectly sized grille and a black splitter. The Activa has also been designed in an orange hue and sports a gloss black roof and pillar, adding to its sporty appeal and slender shape.

Dvornystkyy says he imagines the Activa will be powered by the same 4. 0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine as the 750S, albeit located at the front, hence the elongated hood. Flowing lines similar to those of the 750S are also visible on the sides of the SUV, as are the flush door handles, black arches and giant wheels with black and silver spokes. On the rear, a sleek LED strip serves as a taillight and soft bar, adding to its trendy aesthetic.
What do you think of Dvornystkyy’s McLaren Activa design studio?Do you think it stays true to McLaren’s design philosophy or does it stray too far from the brand’s identity?
