The new-generation Lancia Ypsilon has unveiled the long-awaited revival of the Italian logo that will continue with the Gamma crossover in 2026 and the Delta sedan in 2028. However, die-hard Lancia enthusiasts can’t help but still believe in the return of sportier models. models, such as the Stratos, the Fulvia or the Aurelia Spider. The latter materialized in a collection of renderings evoked through Theophilus Chin.
In the absence of a suitable RWD platform in the Stellantis lineup for such creation, Chin cheered through the Mazda MX-5 ND, encouraged by the collaboration with the now-discontinued Fiat 124 Spider. The virtual artist inspired Lancia’s new style language in a roadster, with the aim of imagining what a modern Aurelia Spider would look like.

The rear is probably the best-looking, with circular LED taillights and a built-in spoiler. The gloss black crossover-style fenders borrowed from the Lancia Ypsilon are ideal for a low-slung roadster, but at least they fit the mirrors and windshield frame. At the front, we locate the grille illuminated by the Chalice with the split LED headlights fixed in the corner of the long bonnet. Finally, the dummy renderings feature a comfortable and retractable top.
The original Lancia Aurelia B24 Spider debuted on 1954. Al Italian roadster followed by the advanced Aurelia B24 Cabriolet in 1956, with slight tweaks to the exterior design. Both derivatives of the two-door Aurelia were produced in limited numbers, meaning that any surviving example in pristine condition is now of wonderful value.
At the moment, a modern Lancia Aurelia convertible is highly unlikely. However, if the Lancia “Renaissance” achieves the desired economic results, the company could add more models to its portfolio, but with zero-emission powertrains.
