Woodbridge man dies in 440 car accident in Edison

EDISON – A 29-year-old Woodbridge guy died Tuesday when his SUV crashed head-on to a trailer truck on a ramp on Highway 440.

The van was traveling in that direction, according to the New Jersey State Police.

State police met the victim as Govinda Rishi of keasbey’s section.

Just before five o’clock in the afternoon, on Tuesday, state police responded to the accident on Highway 440 at milepostArray2 in Edison.

Preliminary reports indicated that a 2013 Honda SUV was moving north along the exit ramp of Highway 440 to County Highway 514 in that direction, according to state police.

At the same time, a 2012 Volvo semi-trailer and a 2009 Freightliner semi-trailer were exiting Highway 440 via the ramp when the Honda collided head-on with the Volvo, to state police. The Freightliner collided with the rear of the Volvo.

Rishi was pronounced dead on site and Volvo and Freightliner drivers were not injured, state police said.

The investigation into the turn of destination closed the exit ramp.
