Woman Stuck for 2 Hours in JB Mall Parking Lot Buying Groceries Amid Long Queue, Netizens Blame Singaporeans

No one likes to wait in traffic, especially if you’re stuck for almost two hours.

TikTok user Muthammah2124 said she got stuck in traffic at the Mid Valley Southkey shopping mall in Johor Bahru (JB) for nearly two hours in a TikTok video uploaded on Friday, March 29.

“People invited me to paint in Kuala Lumpur and I said no because the traffic is bad,” he is heard saying in the video.

“But when I paint in JB, the traffic is like garbage!Rubbish!”

She posted that she was stuck in that parking lot since 10 p. m. until about Friday.

However, Muthammah2124 is not alone in her fate – many netizens also shared that they were also stuck in traffic.

One user said that he took the Tebrau motorway exit, but also found himself in a big traffic jam, so he had to brake temporarily with the car.

According to them, they have been stranded since five o’clock in the afternoon. to 7:20 p. m.

Another said, “I was there (March 30), stuck in a traffic jam on the JB side for 4 hours. “

The comments were a reaction to the suggestion that motorists deserve to take the Tebrau Highway exit instead of the Woodlands exit: netizens complained about traffic jams at both exits.

AsiaOne contacted Muthammah2124 for information.

Some netizens also pointed out that the explanation for the increased traffic may simply be due to the fact that travelers from Singapore traveled to northern Malaysia over the long weekend.

“Even Singapore buys food from JB,” says one of them.

Many also felt that the Good Friday long weekend drew crowds from Singapore to Malaysia, with users adding that the exchange rate encouraged them to do so.

“But it doesn’t matter as he supports [business] in Malaysia,” one netizen also said.

The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said last Thursday (March 28) that travellers can expect delays of up to 3 hours when passing through the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints.

The ICA has also encouraged those travelling by car to use the new QR code formula to facilitate faster immigration checks.

These QR codes can be used through individual travelers or teams of up to 10 other people traveling in the same vehicle.

According to the ICA, around 510,000 travellers passed through checkpoints in Woodlands and Tuas last Thursday, ahead of the long weekend, The Straits Times reported on Saturday (March 30).

This is a record number of travelers passing through checkpoints in one day, surpassing the previous record set on March 15 with about 500,000 travelers.

Travelers at ground checkpoints deserve to be aware of the extra wait time for immigration clearance, the ICA said.

“The ICA also seeks the understanding and cooperation of travelers to be patient, respect traffic rules, stay in the lane, and cooperate with officials on site when checkpoints land,” the ICA spokesperson also said.
