One woman was killed, while three others suffered minor injuries, when the vehicle they were travelling in crashed into a giant rock in the Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday, police said.
The Pangin-bound vehicle, with four other people on board, was coming from Pasighat, East Siang district, when a stone fell on the vehicle during a landslide between the villages of Gaaling and Kebang in the morning, a police official said.
The site of the twist of fate is about six kilometers from Pangin in Siang district, he said.
The deceased, known as Shanti Gao, an elderly woman in her fifties, died instantly.
The other passengers, including the driver, miraculously escaped with minor injuries, the officer said.
The district leadership has asked people to be careful when driving on the Pasighat-Aalo road, which is prone to landslides.
Meanwhile, large landslides caused by heavy rains in recent days have disrupted surface communications in several parts of Siang district.
Massive landslides occurred between the villages of Babuk and Kebang in the district on Wednesday, causing road communications to be cut off in several places and stranding many cars, he said.
