An airport worker who crushed and killed a father of two has been criticized for her “false testimony” that she thought she had hit a kangaroo.
Hobart Airport worker Simone Bridges, 51, was driving along the South Arm Highway in Mornington when she hit Trinton Harmon, 43, father of two, at 11:30 p.m. July 8, 2016.
Mr. Harmon was affected by drugs and alcohol as he walked down the road before being beaten by Ms. Bridges’ Mitsubishi Pajero, flying over the hood and landing on the ground.
The father of two was seriously injured and died at the scene, while Ms. Bridges did not prevent him from helping, and took her to his home in Tranmere.
Bridges later told police that he had hit a giant brown object, which he thought was an animal. But coroner Olivia McTaggart criticized her occasional editing in the investigation findings published Wednesday.
Trinton Harmon, father of two (pictured), 43, died after being run over through Hobart airport worker Simone Bridges at Hobart Airport on the South Arm Highway in Mornington, Tasmania, at 11.30pm on July 8, 2016.
“Unfortunately, Bridges’ false account of the case of the turn of fate led to an unnecessarily lengthy investigation. In particular, his false testimony caused a great misery to Mr. Harmon’s family,” McTaggart said.
I have concluded that Mrs Bridges’s only fear was to exonerate herself from any duty for the death of Mr Harmon, which would attend to the coronary functions. ”
