After two embarrassing unrest in recent weeks, the visit Mexico tourism online page was officially relaunched on Tuesday through the Minister of Tourism, Miguel Torruco.
However, the new beginning did not go as well as he and other officials might have expected: by the time the new site was introduced, it was not yet online.
But on Wednesday afternoon, the Visit Mexico portal was live, available and error-free.
Torruco said at a virtual press convention that the new will showcase the newest and most productive technologies and that corporations such as Google, Discovery Channel, Mastercard, Ford and Aeromexico, as well as the New York Yankees will marry him through sponsorship deals.
The government will pay anything for its operation and maintenance, he said.
In its current incarnation, Visit Mexico includes data on a diversity of tourist itineraries and includes sales sections of the 32 states of Mexico, the most productive kisses in the country, archaeological sites, adventure and ecotourism and magical cities.
Torruco said the site will not serve as an online firm where reservations can be made, but as a “nerve center” that connects potential visitors with operators and tourist agencies in Mexico.

The relaunch of Visit Mexico comes one month after its retirement, allegedly due to the lack of host of the site.
However, the company that has been managing the site’s content since 2019, Braintivity, claimed that the page had been hacked.
The online page came back online in early August, but its English-language content contained several errors that gave the impression of having been automatically translated or deliberately altered. As a result, the names of many destinations have been translated into literal (and in some cases unexplained) translations.
