Last year, GMC categorically ruled out the launch of a subcompact crossover, the Terrain, but the rumor 10 years ago refuses to die. According to a recent report, the “on and off” style is back on track for production.
Citing unidentified sources, GM Authority’s exciting online page says the smooth transit vehicle is closer than ever to receiving the proverbial soft green for production. It has not yet been approved, so the progression paintings have not begun. What you’ll see if you get a touch from executives is outstanding, however, GMC can take several paths in this lucrative (and popular) segment of the U.S. new car market.
Chevrolet has two wrestlers in the ring: the Trailblazer and the Trax. GMC can simply decide on one, put it on a brand-specific packaging and call it someday. You can also design your access from scratch, this option would take longer and charge much more. Anyway, the style will be called Sod or Graphyte, and will be placed below Plot in terms of length and price, meaning it would probably start above $20,000.
In 2019, GMC said it discarded expanding its diversity to position itself as a premium logo. He tried to focus on high-benefit models like Sierra and Canyon, but the growing popularity of the crossover would possibly have been too pleasant to resist. In addition, the small and the high-end are not mutually exclusive, and the reduction would help the logo increase its annual sales.
If you’re having a déj vu, it’s probably because we’ve heard whispers about a city-friendly GMC since the Granite concept (pictured) debuted at the 2010 Detroit Motor Show. It was approved for production that year, approved in 2011 (temporarily on a Cruze platform) and cancelled in 2012.
GMC hasn’t commented on the report, so we’ll have to be patient to see if it’s accurate and how it would differentiate its entry-level crossover from Buick’s. Meanwhile, the corporate gives the finishing touches to the electric Hummer, which will be presented in pick-up and SUV vans, and is about to present the Sierra 2022.
