Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald has been a driving force for Mitsubishi all his life. As a keen 17-year-old, he worked on the factory’s production line south of Adelaide, building the seats that would be compatible with cars. Since then, he has been driving a Mitsubishi.
The automaker’s next-generation plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (EV) reflects what Fitzy has dreamed of: cutting-edge technology, price for money, seamless design and simple integration into its lifestyle. His career in radio and television pushes him to move. But he and his wife also have two children who, like him, love sports and the outdoors, so leaving the city is also non-negotiable.

Fitzy lives in west-central Sydney, near the city. During the week, find him driving between work and home, taking the kids to soccer, and sometimes going out at night.
“I don’t use fuel the week,” he says. We’re lucky that we don’t have to drive too far to get to work, so that’s what’s best for me. With the battery, you can travel about 80 km on the charge. It’s been wonderful for us. We just went in and out.
When Fitzy’s work week ends, the Outlander’s hybrid gasoline engine and two electric motors make it easy for him to take his family on longer trips.

The generation that powers our cars is constantly evolving, and Fitzy says the Outlander provides the perfect balance between an exciting new generation and ease of use. , he says he has the feeling of a circle of relatives in cars entertaining their children without skimping on comfort.
“Everything is so modern. When I first walked in, I thought, how am I going to perceive this?But it syncs with my phone. I can know where I’m going or schedule anything before I even get to the car.
But it’s not just about the lifestyle of the circle of relatives. When Fitzy drives alone, he takes a moment to enjoy the drive itself. “A lot of other people think you lose steam when you have electric cars,” he says, “but it’s the opposite. Take off, we don’t hear it. It’s so smooth, but the strength and control on all wheels are amazing. And when it goes into fuel, the fuel injection is very good.
If the couple is stunning, Fitzy is equally adept at peace and quiet. “When I drive, it’s relaxing. It is easy to drive. It’s silent. And you’re doing what’s right for the environment.
Fitzy says he didn’t grow up in a circle of relatives who cared about his impact on the environment, and that’s part of the explanation for why he’s determined to set another example for his own children.
“This is a start for the Fitzgerald family,” he says. Every time we come home now and park the cars under the house, the kids will connect it for us. Socially, economically, it is the right decision. My wife and I communicate about it all the time, setting smart criteria for our children.
“Because really, we’re doing this for ourselves. We’re doing it for the next generation.
