The White Lotus is adjusting its reserve list for Season 3: Actor Miloš Biković will no longer appear in the next season of HBO’s luxury hotel anthology, TVLine confirmed, following protests from Ukrainian officials over its casting. (Our sister site Deadline the first to report the news. )
“We have to compose tactics with Miloš Biković and the role will be reorganized,” a spokesman said in a statement. HBO has yet to reveal details about the Season 3 characters, but Deadline reports that Biković was set to play the recurring little one. role of Russian Valentin, a flirtatious yogi and hotel improvement mentor, a role that will now be played through Shadow and Bone. Julian Kostov (from February 6).

HBO came under fire last month after casting Biković, a Serbian-Russian actor, due to his ties to the Russian government and his alleged invasion of Ukraine through interviews and social media posts. (Biković was granted Russian citizenship by a decree signed through Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2021. ) After being elected, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry asked HBO directly on social media: “Can you work with a user who commits genocide and violates foreign law?
Biković posted his after its decomposition, which reads in part: “I was revered for being selected to be part of [The] White Lotus, a TV series that I hold in high esteem and with colleagues I deeply respect. However, my participation is unimaginable for reasons beyond the realm of art and I will not bow to any narrative that seeks to compromise my integrity.
