Westaway effectively ended the opening of its new Suzuki dealership in Northampton with the delivery of its first sale from its new franchise site.
The Northampton-based organization won a congratulatory award from Suzuki GB network progression director Steve Prew LinkedIn for making his sales debut last week.
“Huge congratulations to the latest addition to the Suzuki network, Westaway Northampton, for completing the first delivery of a new car, a task and a welcome on board,” he said.
Westaway Suzuki’s new showroom has a roof with the group’s Jeep franchise in an area occupied in the past by Mitsubishi Motors in the UK.
Westaway declined to comment on the resolution when he was contacted via AM this morning (October 23).
According to his group’s website, Westaway remains a Mitsubishi Motors franchisee in the UK and represents the Ford, Isuzu and SsangYong brands.
Suzuki’s addition follows the opening of new dealers with the Japanese logo of Richmond Motor Group and Delgarth Motor Group over the past month.
Richmond began welcoming consumers at its newly created plant alongside the Skoda franchise in Broad Oak, Botley, which has become a component of the organization with the acquisition of Sparshatts in August last year.
Meanwhile, Delgarth has opened the doors of his new Suzuki franchise site in the japanese brand’s hometown of the UK, Milton Keynes, occupying somewhere else that once housed a Mitsubishi franchise.
Mitsubishi stores expressed surprise at Mitsubishi Motor Corporation’s “unexpected” resolve to leave the UK and European markets in general after the announcement of the return in July.
Mitsubishi Motors UK leader Rob Lindley later told AM that he did not expect “any mass exodus” from car dealerships in the brand’s franchised retail network in the UK.
Lindley insisted in his interview with AM that “as things are, nothing has inherently. “
He added: “For me, it’s a story, but it’s not the story other people imagined.
“Mitsubishi continues and we continue to operate. Yes, no new style is released to the market, but it’s just the story of a logo that retreats and disappears.
“We will still have a fleet of new and used cars until 2021 and new cars to acquire until 2022 and beyond.
“It’s time to see what our next steps will be. “
