DRIVEN BY CHANGE, FOCUS ON A UNIQUE ART FORM AHEAD OF THE 2024 FORMULA 1 JAPANESE GRAND PRIX MSC CRUISES 2024

TOKYO, April 3, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Today, Vuse, the world’s number one vape brand*, and the McLaren Formula 1 Team reveal that self-taught Japanese artist MILTZ is the livery for the McLaren MCL38 car in 2024. JAPANESE GRAND PRIX MSC CRUISES FORMULA 1.

Inspired by the classical Edomoji script, which gave the impression of being beyond the Edo era (1603-1868), the custom-made livery pays homage beyond Japanese traditions, but with a modern twist, bringing an underrepresented art form to the iconic Suzuka circuit.

The livery design by artist MILTZ depicts the speed of Formula 1 race cars, translated through an Edomoji-inspired dragon racing through the clouds. The clouds are a testament to the car’s race and the friction between the tires and the track. MILTZ also added his artistic touch to the names and numbers of the drivers displayed on the MCL38 by creating them in his signature style, especially for the Japanese Grand Prix.

Livery artist MILTZ comments: “When I became a freelance artist, I never imagined such an opportunity would be imaginable – it’s the biggest overseas commission I’ve ever done!As I continue to broaden my profile as an artist, I need my works to uphold the rich traditions of Japanese writing culture, like Edomoji, but with a fashionable twist. From racing with local corporations in Japan to the McLaren Formula 1 team, there are so many wonderful stories to tell through art.

Driven by his hobby to improve his craft and disenfranchised because he couldn’t express his creativity, MILTZ quit his job at a design firm to pursue his dream. More than 10 years later, he celebrates his paintings in one of the grandest stages of all.

Luca Angiolillo, Head of McLaren Partnership at BAT, comments: “We are incredibly proud to launch Driven Through Change in Japan with the launch of an iconic bespoke livery. 2024 marks the fourth year in which Vuse and McLaren continue to break barriers and champion a new generation. of artistic ability, and MILTZ is just one example. With his penchant for moving beyond traditions with a hint of fashion, I can’t wait to see where he heads next.

Drawing inspiration from the Vuse and McLaren liveries of the past, MILTZ channeled the wild lines of Rabab Tantawy’s Nubians to create its livery design.

Louise McEwen, Chief Marketing Officer, McLaren Racing, comments: “We are excited to bring Driven Through Change to Japan for the 2024 version of the crusade together with our partner Vuse. Now, in its fourth year, we have noted the successes of the crusade. showcasing the incredible creativity of those talented and anonymous artists for the world to see in our race cars.
