Volkswagen terminates three-shift contract at Zwickau plant

Volkswagen is in talks with staff at its all-electric plant in Zwickau, Germany, to negotiate a new production deal. The automaker has terminated a long-standing three-shift deal and is now aiming for a new deal that takes into account the long-standing three-shift deal that will run until the end of the year. The renegotiation was first reported by German news agency dpa.

Due to low demand for electric cars, Volkswagen recently announced that it would scale back its plans and adapt work shifts at the Zwickau plant. In 2022, the plant produced 218,000 vehicles, a figure that is especially below its capacity of around 360,000.
