Volkswagen more than 261,000 vehicles, including some Audis and Jettas

Volkswagen is recalling more than 261,000 cars in the U. S. due to a fuel tank issue, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

This is a faulty seal of the suction jet pump, which will need to be replaced.

The component is intended to remove fuel from the evaporative emissions formula (EVAP), but if the internal fuel filter of the suction jet pump fails, the fuel can enter directly into the EGAP formula, the recall notice says. If this happens, the fuel may eventually leak into some other segment of the engine, which could lead to a fire.

These are the models that are from the retreat:

NHTSA estimates that 261,257 cars are affected, although no fires were reported due to the defect, according to the documents.

Dealers will upgrade the suction pump free of charge, the NHTSA added.

Quotes were delayed by at least 15 minutes.
