There are exceptions to rules at all times. Even though top car enthusiasts hate large SUVs, it’s really pretty hard to hate something like the BMW X5 M. Competition, of course, I would never buy one, even if I could. There are other cars I prefer, to have for the same price. That said, there’s something amazing to be seduced by an SUV that can carry children and luggage at three-digit speeds (although I don’t literally propose it). In this new video through Joe Achilles, we see the BMW X5 M Competition and why it is so desirable, even if it is objectively ridiculous.
Although the X5 M Comp weighs as much as a small cargo ship, it’s still incredibly fast. Nothing that weighs that much, nor does it go up that high, deserves to be able to have the kind of acceleration that is the X5 M. Of course, you get a lot of cars for the money, but for the value of an X5 M Comp, you can get a BMW X3 for the family circle and a BMW M4 for its functionality and either will be higher in their respective jobs than the X5. However, these are minor disruptions and, despite the general lack of a realistic desire for such a vehicle, the BMW X5 M Competition is a strangely endearing car. It’s not for everyone, but it’s hard to deny its superfluous charm.
