Today’s effects saw LOUD and Paper Rex FPX and Team Heretics from VCT Masters Madrid. Here’s everything you want to know about the games!
Results: 13-5 sunset, 13-11 breeze
LOUD qualified for the fifth day of VCT Masters Madrid action after a one-sided win over FunPlus Phoenix at Sunset and Breeze.
The Brazilians started with a comfortable win in their card pick, Sunset, where the team lost only five rounds. With 18 kills to his name, Argentina’s Matias “Saadhak” Delipetro was the team’s most productive player in the first map of the series.
However, FunPlus Phoenix has shown more strength in its pick, Breeze. Despite squandering the first two rounds, the Chinese drew in the fourth round and controlled to stay in the lead until the roles were reversed. At the time, the Asian roster had a 7-5 lead.
After a slow start in the second half, the Brazilian team temporarily outplayed the Chinese and took a two-round lead (9-7). That’s when, after winning 4 of the next five rounds, FunPlus Phoenix set out to send the game to the third map.
That’s when the Brazilians woke up. Instantly, the VCT Masters roster took control and won the next 3 rounds to defeat Breeze (13-11). In total, with an ACS of 259 and 37 shots, Matías “Saadhak” Delipetro was the Most Productive Player of the series.
Tomorrow, the Brazilians will take on EDward Gaming for one of the two remaining spots for the VCT Masters Madrid playoffs.
Results: 13-10 Sunset, 10-13 Lotus, 13-7 Split
Paper Rex survived until the fourth day of the festival after defeating Team Heretics in the final match of the weekend. In the end, this means that the Spanish organization has not been able to win any of its home games.
Overall, the series between the two groups was incredibly close. Sunset and Lotus followed a very similar scenario, in which Team Heretics and Paper Rex were constantly trading tricks, as neither of them could gain a transparent advantage. Finally, Paper Rex’s victory over Sunset followed through Heretic’s victory over Lotus.
The third map, Split, made a winning decision. A rock-solid defensive from Team Heretics temporarily made them the favorites to earn the card, with the Spanish organization holding a transitory 6-2 lead. However, the Asian team took the adjustment and ended up winning the series almost unstoppable by winning 11 of the last twelve rounds of the adjustment.
With 61 kills and an ACS of 261, Ilya “somewhat” Petrov is the most productive player in the game. Following today’s result, Paper Rex will play Karmine Corp for a spot in the VCT Masters Madrid qualifiers.
