Used Skoda Enyaq review 2021-present

Before you remortgage your home to buy a giant electric SUV, let us introduce you to a model that, while not reasonably consistent with the model, is affordable, especially when used. This is the Skoda Enyaq.

Reduced-price parts were also not assembled. The Enyaq shares its bases with the Audi Q4 e-tron and VW ID 4, both of which are smart to drive and cover decent distances on a single charge.

The basic edition, called the 60, has a 58 kWh battery. If you opt for an 80 or 80X model, get a 77 kWh battery. Above those variants is the Skoda Enyaq vRS, which has the same 77 kWh battery but gains in faster performance. We’ll take a look at this “hot” edition separately.

The 60 and 80 are rear-wheel drive, the 60 makes 177 hp, and the 80 makes 201 hp. Acceleration is clever on both versions and the difference between the two is dramatic, partly because the 80 has a heavier battery. It’s a different story with the 80X, which has all-wheel drive for more traction to deploy the impressive 261bhp at its disposal.

Even the 60 has some luxuries, such as dual-zone climate control, 19-inch alloys, power-folding exterior mirrors, auto-dimming mirrors, and cruise control. The 80 adds wheel-mounted paddles to adjust the moving regenerative braking point, as well as a heated wheel and other parking aids.

Rather than opting for one finish as you do with most models, the Enyaq is available with other design qualities. With Loft, large portions of the dashboard are upholstered in fabric. The Suite and ecoSuite versions replace it with synthetic leather.

Sportline models have a sportier look and, if the original owner opted for the optional Maxx package, adaptive dampers. They allow you to adjust the stiffness of the suspension between two extremes, more or more composed, according to your wishes.

The Maxx package also includes the Comfort Seat Plus package, which adds a massaged driver’s seat. Wireless phone charging is optional on max versions (as a component of the Clever package) and became popular with Sportline.

Out on the road, the Enyaq rides well and handles tidily. The driving experience is quite relaxed rather than engaging. As long as you’re not overzealous, it doesn’t roll too much through corners, and the light yet precise steering allows you to position the car with confidence. Rear-wheel-drive models have a tight turning circle, helping you tackle tight manoeuvres without too much trouble.

There isn’t much road noise on very rough surfaces, and only the slight wind hiss around the outside mirrors at a stable cruising speed of 110 km/h. In fact, our only small complaint is the “noise, noise, noise” background noise from the suspension. which can be heard when driving on a bumpy road.

In terms of diversity, the 80th edition has a clear advantage. Officially, you can reach up to 339 miles at a full rate (332 miles on the Sportline editions and 318 miles on the 80X Sportline editions). Mind you, even the 60 has a very respectable official range of 246 miles.

The quality of the interior is very good for an electric car of its original price point. In short, it feels pretty well screwed together and there’s plenty of squidgy plastic on the dashboard and the insides of the doors, plus piano black and metal highlights to jazz things up.

All versions feature a giant 13-inch touchscreen located at the top of the dashboard and slightly oriented towards the driver. It’s actually easy to see and access, but the software rarely responds that well, rarely takes a moment to load, and rarely crashes. However, it’s not as bad as the ID 4 system.

In both the front and back seats, six-foot adults have lots of room to stretch, while the boot is absolutely huge – bigger even than an ID 4’s – and takes up to nine carry-on suitcases under the tonneau cover. It’s also easy to load thanks to the wide tailgate opening and reasonably low load lip.

At the time of writing, used Enyaqs start at around £25,000. For the money, expect a 2021 model in 60 form. If you’d prefer a 2022 car (still a 60), raise your budget to around £27,000, and make that £32,000 for a 2023 one.

Regardless of the style year, the Model 80 starts at £32,000, while the 80X costs around £35,000.

As popular with newcomers, the Enyaq has a power output of 50 kW, but is also available with fast charging to allow the 60 to reach up to 100 kW and the 80 up to 125 kW. Versions with fast charging can get a 10-80% rate on part of the hour.

All versions should come with a Type 2 charging cable and you’ll be able to use this to charge the battery at home using a regular 7kW wall box. A full charge (0-100%) with one of these takes about 9. 5 hours for the 60 and 60 models. About thirteen hours for the 80.

Excluding vRS, Enyaq’s insurance teams range from 23 to 33. Skoda sells fixed-price service plans, with a plan for Enyaq costing £294 and adding service.

From electric diversity to equipment, there’s no shortage of the 60th edition of the Enyaq and it happens to be the cheapest variant you can buy. There are a multitude of design levels and packages to explore, so take a look to study the features you prefer the most. The mid-range Suite is the top quality common on the second-hand market and we’ll stick to it.

As mentioned, the VW ID four is mechanically connected to the Skoda Enyaq. The ID four has more composure, but it’s rarely as sumptuous or massive on the inside. The costs used are more or less equivalent.

The Audi Q4 e-Tron is a similar story, but it tends to be a more expensive purchase. The interior quality is about the same as the Enyaq.

For more electric range and performance, but less comfort, there’s the Ford Mustang Mach-e. Have pockets that are at least £33,000 deep if you’re considering one, though.
