Used Car Dealership Has Three Months to Vacate After Council Ruled It Illegal

A used car dealership is fighting for its future after a city council ruled it was operating illegally.

Dulux Cars, of Romford, won a plan run after Havering London Borough Council ruled the company was in breach of planning rules.

As a result, the company ordered it to vacate its premises at 284 Brentwood Road or face prosecution.

The bosses say they plan to appeal the ruling and have adamantly denied breaking the law, despite the rejection of an application to operate a car dealership on the site last month.

The notice, posted on April 5, claims that through the site as a car showroom, Dulux Cars is impacting parking on surrounding roads, causing traffic jams.

It also accuses the company of causing more “noise and disturbances”, in “material damage” to the premises of nearby residents.

The risk news comes about a month after the council rejected a replacement proposal in the use of the site on March 11.

The owner, Bill Bacheta, decided to convert the land from a retail store, from where he sold computers (pictured), to a vehicle broker.

However, the proposals were rejected and this resolution is now highlighted in the council’s statement.

Bacheta says an appeal is currently underway and he supports his Dulux Cars tenants, who he says are acting within the law.

He told the Romford Recorder, “This functions more like an area where other people can come and pick up cars. Otherwise, everything is done online. “

“It’s personal ground and we have a challenge with the council saying it’s affecting traffic in the area. They probably only get one or two customers per day.

“Every business has a safe point of passage with other people coming and going.

“It’s been 15 years since I had a computer store in my place and that’s why we also had a lot of customers, so I don’t understand why they (the municipality) have a challenge with this business. “

Despite an appeal filed, the police notice is expected to go into effect on May 10.

The company will have 3 months from this date to remove all cars from the site, as well as all trash.

Failure to comply with those regulations may result in prosecution, the notice warns.
