WILMINGTON – An SUV, in all likelihood stolen, crashed into the main front of the downtown CVS store and a few minutes later, a man, in all likelihood the driver, led a police foot chase on North Walnut Street shortly after four o’clock in the afternoon. Wednesday.
Shaken CVS workers piled up in the parking lot while Wilmington EMS and police worked to stabilize the scene after the crash.
One person, believed to have been a passenger in the starry SUV and consciously, was taken to Clinton Memorial Hospital.
CVS workers and, in all likelihood, customers, as well as two small dogs, were being treated on site through Wilmington EMS staff, but apparently no one else was transported.
A witness told the News Journal that he saw the incident in front of him at work.
A Kia Sorrento SUV, heading south on North Walnut Street, hit an application pole, smashing it in two, on the corner of North Walnut and East Main street, outside the Clinton County District Attorney’s Office, hit a fire hydrant at cvS. owned, crossed the bushes near the front of CVS Main Street, crossed the parking lot and crashed into CVS’s main front, completely avoiding the look on the walls of the store.
Just minutes after the accident, a shirtless guy left the CVS parking lot, took off on foot from Main Street and boarded Walnut with two Wilmington police officers for the foot chase.
You can notice the guy running down the hill to Locust Street. A short time later, he stopped it.
