Update: Two killed after violent crash on Highway 299 near Shasta-Trinity County boundary

Two other people were killed in a two-vehicle head-on collision Friday afternoon east of Buckhorn Summit on Highway 299, according to California Highway Patrol sergeant. Tim Hinkson.

Hinkson said the other two dead people were the drivers. No one else inside.

ChP said a Toyota sedan was heading east at 2:38 p.m. crossed the lanes in the opposite direction for unknown reasons, turned right and collided with a Ford van. Both cars were lit and the flames began a wildfire on the right shoulder east of the Shasta-Trinity County boundary.

The CHP has the investigation of the accident.
