Update: Police identify and arrest the driving force of a stolen car that killed a motorcyclist

Police have known the driving force of a stolen car that collided and killed a motorcyclist on Sunday night, according to a press release.

David Dwight Jackson, 52, of Des Moines arrested on charges adding the murder of an intoxicated vehicle (OWI); negligent driving; Leave the scene of a twist of fate that caused death; and second-degree theft.

Jackson had active parole and parole warrants and was scheduled to enroll in the Polk County Jail Monday afternoon.

Police met the motorcyclist as Bounleua Lovan, 51, from Des Moines on Monday morning. Des Moines police found out about 8:32 p.m. On Sunday in the 2400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, a press release.

Lovan was transferred to a hospital in critical condition and then died, police said.

According to the evidence from the scene and witness statements, police said Jackson was heading south on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in a stolen Toyota Prius. He crossed the middle line and crashed into a 2016 Polaris Slingshot heading north driven through Lovan.

After hitting Lovan, Jackson fled the scene and crashed a moment into a construction site in 2501 Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, police said. After fleeing on foot, Jackson arrested him. He was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
