Japan’s Isuzu is gearing up to release an updated edition of the MU-X SUV, following its updated D-Max that recently landed in Australia.
A very short teaser video with few visual clues has been posted on Isuzu’s Thai social media channels. Thailand is where the D-Max and MU-X are built for Australia, but it’s what’s under the skin that attracts the maximum number of buyers.
Careful Photoshop paintings through Philippines-based Visor gave a clear look at the self-teaser.
A radical redesign seems to be in play for the MU-X’s front trim, with a larger grille, a more “road” SUV flavor and what appears to be a new set of headlights.
The two horizontal grille blades remain, the trailer showing what could simply be a new variant via an “RS” badge.
The seven-seater SUV is expected to be its D-Max cousin when it comes to generational and functional updates.
The refreshed D-Max, unveiled in Australia in recent months, gained a new 8. 0- or 9. 0-inch multimedia touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a new driver display.
Don’t expect a lot of mechanical tweaks for the MU-X, though. The D-Max retained its 1. 9-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine (with 110 kW and 350 Nm) and its larger 3. 0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine. -cylinder (140 kW and 450 Nm).
The same engines are also used lately in the MU-X, all mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, regardless of the engine or whether it has two- or four-wheel drive.
Expect to see the MU-X appear in the first part of 2025; More details will be known in the coming weeks or months.
