A UNIQUE Lamborghini “car” designed for the Sultan of Brunei will fetch an astonishing price.
The sultan, one of the richest men in the world, had this luxury engine manufactured in 1986.
Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah has an estimated net worth of more than £23 billion and rules one of the world’s last absolute monarchies, acting as monarch and prime minister of the Asian nation.
Technically, Brunei has been under martial law since 1962 and all members of its parliament are appointed by elections of the sultan.
Most of the sultan’s immense wealth is generated through the country’s oil and fuel deposits, which is fitting as much of the cash is reinvested in cars, as the monarch is a well-known oilman.
Today, his 1986 Lamborghini LM002 has been put up for auction.
The car is largely an edition of the original LM200 SUV, produced with the Italian logo between 1986 and 1993.
The LM002 was certainly left out for a manufacturer that produced fashionable sports cars.
The style evolved in collaboration with the US military as a rugged off-road vehicle.
This example is supplied with a giant 5. 2-liter V12 from the Countach that makes 450 horsepower and has 6,451 miles on the odometer.
That’s an average of about miles per year.
It also comes with a new set of premium Pirelli tires and has a sensible top speed of 130 mph.
Due to its immense power, off-road features, and military-style bodywork, fans nicknamed it “Rambo Lambo. “
Inside, it features a matte metallic finish on Cuoio Nero leather, as well as a variety of luxury features that would have been the pinnacle of modernity in the ’80s.
These come with a mini TV in a faded wood center console and spacious leather sofas, although there don’t appear to be any seatbelts.
The Sultan’s LM002 will be auctioned at SBX Cars.
The directory adds: “The LM002 is undoubtedly an excluded product from a manufacturer that produces fashionable sports cars.
“This, with its rarity, makes it a classic collectible.
“The three hundred examples built were pickup trucks, but when the Sultan of Brunei received this LM002 from Singapore from 1986, he decided to convert it into a “Wagon” through Salvatore Diomante in 1989.
“A total of three LM002 ‘Wagons’ were made, but only this one was approved by Lamborghini. “
The sultan is believed to have only driven 1,100 miles in this car before he sold it to Bernd Pischetsrieder, former CEO of VW, in Germany.
After that, she sold it to a Swedish mother who, surprisingly, used it to go to school.
It has now been put up for auction and, although its value has not been set, similar cars have been sold for more than £385,000.
The sale comes after McLaren launched its new £1. 8 million supercar, dubbed “the new F1 model”, which can reach 100 km/h in just 2. 7 seconds.
