SALEM — Authorities have released the names of two drivers in a fatal collision on Interstate 93 on Feb. 1.
Jermaine Adams, 48, of Haverhill, Massachusetts, has been identified as the driver of a 2020 Chevrolet Trax who died at the scene.
The second driver, William Russell, 59, of Merrimack, N. H. , was driving a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe.
New Hampshire State Police Troop B responded to the scene of the twist of fate around 4:25 p. m. near mile marker 0. 2, just before the Massachusetts state line.
According to the investigation, the Hyundai Santa Fe did not slow down very hard and collided with the Chevrolet Trax.
Salem Fire Department personnel attempted to rescue Adams, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troop B Fire Station in Bedford won between the NH State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (CAR) Unit, Salem Fire Department, and NH Department of Transportation.
The southbound lanes of I-93, south of Exit 1, were closed for approximately 3 hours while the crash was investigated and the roadway was cleared.
Traffic was diverted to Exit 1 and vehicles stuck between the destination turn location and the exit were redirected to the northbound lanes.
The investigation into the cause of the twist of fate is ongoing.
