DUNSEITH, N. D. — Two injuries occurred early Thursday morning, Jan. 4, in Rolette County near Dunseith.
According to a news story from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the first crash happened around 3:30 a. m. on Highway 3, about 12 miles south of Dunseith. This happened when a 2008 Mack truck drove 70-year-old Lloyd Simcock of Manitoba through it. I walked the road and came here to rest in the west ditch.
Then, two cars pulled up to help. A short time later, a northbound 2001 Ford Taurus struck the rear of one of the cars that had stopped to help. The desk cars were unoccupied at the time of the crash. Two other people aboard the Taurus Driver Steven Johnson, 43, of Rolla, and passenger Corey Poitra, 27, of Dunseith, suffered minor injuries and were taken to medical centers in Belcourt and Rolla.
Simcock’s injuries were more severe. He was taken to Rugby Hospital.
According to the Highway Patrol, seat belts were used on either the Mack truck or the Taurus.
