Two new hotels, one of which is a new-to-market logo, will emerge as part of an asset previously envisioned as a flower shop on Midlothian Turnpike.
Henrico-based JP Hospitality needs to build two 110-room hotels as well as a 6,000-square-foot, one-story advertising building on a roughly 10-acre site at 9500 Midlothian Turnpike, according to a plan recently submitted to Chesterfield County.
One of the hotels is expected to be Staybridge Suites, which is an IHG Hotels extended-stay concept that has lately had a presence in the Richmond area, according to documents filed with the county. The other is expected to be a Courtyard through Marriott. . The advertising structure is intended for operators of retail or catering establishments.
Other important points about the project, such as the structural timeline and expected cost, were available.

Ratchet Designs is indexed in the assignment documents as a civil engineer.
The hotels are at least the second progression task coming to the Midlothian Turnpike assets near the Powhite Parkway interchange, which Strange’s Florist acquired years ago as a 30-acre combination.
Sheetz is about to put the finishing touches on a 3-acre segment that the convenience store and fuel station chain purchased from an LLC connected to Strange’s previous one this year. A spokesperson for Sheetz said the store is expected to open next month.
Strange had already planned to find a location on the Midlothian Turnpike site. The company eventually abandoned those plans and sold the site in pieces. Strange’s, a longtime flower and lawn retailer, has outlets at 12111 West Broad St. and at 3313 Mechanicsville Turnpike.
It’s unclear whether JP Hospitality has purchased the vacant land on which its allocation is expected to expand. As of Monday, the Strange-affiliated LLC was still listed as the owner in online filings.
JP Hospitality’s assignment site is off Midlothian Turnpike, the Genesis of South Richmond auto dealership, at 9530 Midlothian Turnpike. The land is valued at $1. 6 million, according to Chesterfield online records.
JP Hospitality’s online page lists more than 20 hotels, almost all in Virginia, as operational or “in development. ” Most of Old Dominion’s hotels are in the Richmond area, and there are also assets in Maryland, according to the company’s online page.
