PHOENIX — A two-car crash in Peoria left one rider dead and injured Thursday night, the government said.
At approximately 3:53 p. m. , Peoria police and Peoria Fire EMS arrived at the scene of the collision near State Route 74 and Lake Pleasant Parkway, according to a news release.
Officers discovered that a black Ford F-150 had collided with a silver Hyundai Sonata. The two passengers of the Sonata were transported to a nearby hospital, while the driver and sole occupant of the F-150 was not injured.
Ronald Dixon, 22, of Las Vegas, died from his injuries at the hospital, and the condition of the unnamed passenger is unknown.
Initial investigations revealed that the driver of the F-150 was heading east on State Route 74 and entering the intersection of Lake Pleasant Parkway. The Sonata was heading west in the left turn lane of State Route 74 when the two cars collided in the middle of the intersection.
The driver of the F-150 remained at the scene of the initial investigation through Peoria police.
The wreck area closed until normal traffic resumed at 8:30 p. m. THURSDAY.
The Peoria Police Department’s Traffic Services Unit said this investigation is ongoing.
