TRAFFIC ALERT: I-794 has been cleared of a car fire causing major delays in morning commutes

UPDATE 9:44 a. m. CST: The car fire causing major delays for eastbound travelers on I-794 in the downtown Milwaukee area has been resolved, according to Wisconsin Department of Transportation officials.

UPDATE 9:25 a. m. – Police are allowing blocked traffic on eastbound 794 between Marquette Interchange and the scene of the car fire to pass to the right. Drivers be careful with the car as the road is still rainy due to the firefighters who put out the fire.

The car fire happened around 8:45 a. m. Wednesday and the crews arrived around 9:05 a. m. m. to put out the fire.

At this time, eastbound traffic is at a standstill at Marquette Interchange, while traffic from I94 to 794 is redirected to city streets.
