It may be the electric vehicle America has been waiting for, but will it get here?
The Urban SUV would be a subcompact crossover by American standards. Toyota has announced the external dimensions. The concept is about six inches shorter than the Corolla Cross, 0.3 inches narrower and 1.2 inches shorter height-wise.
Toyota has yet to check the urban SUV’s diversity figures. Toyota said it will be available with front-wheel drive and will use a “dual battery” strategy. According to Autobus, the edition can offer about 250 miles at a bachelor rate (probably within the low diversity of two hundred miles by EPA standards).
Toyota has yet to reveal pricing. Autocar estimates it could cost around £32,000 (about $40,000) in Britain. That would make it about $3000 less expensive than the bZ4X. We suspect Toyota would have to create a larger edition to make it work in the United States.
We don’t know yet. It looks like Toyota will launch the vehicle first in Europe. The fact that Toyota’s U. S. media site has been the only one to do so. The U. S. public’s coverage of the concept reveal is a smart sign that there are no plans to launch it anytime soon.
Toyota has vehicles like the three-row SUV, an electric version of the Tacoma and maybe another electric Ford Maverick-rival pickup that probably would have priority for the American market.
But we may see the production edition coming to the U. S. U. S. The market is still clamoring for a new EV option, and cars like the Volvo EX30 will test America’s appetite for small electric crossovers before Toyota moves in one direction or another.
