Toyota RAV4 Battery Problem Explained and How to Check If Your Car Has Been Recalled

Toyota Motor is recalling 1. 85 million cars in the U. S. The U. S. Department of Homeland Security has been released due to fire hazards associated with replacement batteries.

This recall affects RAV4 cars from the 2013 through 2018 design years.

Toyota explained that some 12-volt replacement batteries have smaller and larger dimensions.

If the hose clamp holding the battery is not properly tightened, it is possible for the battery to make forced turns while riding, which can also lead to a short circuit and an increased risk of fire.

To solve this problem, Toyota has developed advanced components.

Dealers will upgrade the battery clamp, battery holder, and terminal cover with those upgraded parts.

Customers will be notified of the recall timeline and the replacement will be finalized by the end of December.

It will let you know if there is an open protective recall affecting your vehicle and what action to take.

Toyota said: “Some 12-volt replacement batteries of the specified length for the affected cars have smaller dimensions than others.

“If a small battery is used for replacement and the clamp is tightened, the battery can simply move when the vehicle is driven with forced turns.

“Movement can cause the positive terminal of the battery to come into contact with the clamp and cause a short circuit. “

Toyota said other people with affected cars can enter the vehicle data number or license plate data into Toyota or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to make recalls.
