Opel’s famous GSI badge is proudly displayed on the Commodore and Monza and the award-winning Manta GSe, a fashionable edition of the legendary 1970 Manta.
Opel has announced that it will reintroduce and redefine a GSe sub-brand.
Clearly supporting the German automaker’s plan to offer an electrified edition of each and every style in its portfolio until 2024 and be an all-electric logo in Europe until 2028, GSe’s revamped logo represents Grand Sport Electric.
Florian Huettl, CEO of Opel, said: “I am very pleased to announce the return of GSe as our premium sports sub-brand in the near future. Once we have recovered our heritage, as we did with our ambitious and natural new design, and gave it a touch of fashion.
“In the future, the GSe label will not only mean dynamic and fun-to-drive cars, but also ‘Great Electric Sport’, perfectly in line with our ambitious plans for an all-electric brand. “
In addition to an athletic look at Opel’s new design, long-term GSe consumers can expect a chassis configuration that provides a peak of excitement and engagement behind the wheel.
Like all Opel models, GSe diversity will be motorway-proof thanks to extensive testing on German motorways. At the same time, GSe models will combine functionality with the option of emission-free mobility.
Opel recently introduced the Manta-e GSe, a fashionable edition of the legendary 1970 Manta. It shows how timeless the lines of 1970 are today.
What was a sculptural and undeniable part a century ago, still fits perfectly with Opel’s design philosophy today. It presents a strong and transparent position and with a little luck a new future begins: electric, emission-free, full of emotions.
The Opel Manta GSe is also a tribute to the charming Manta A that animated the design of the new face of the Opel logo, the Opel Vizor, which seamlessly integrates the grille, formula and emblem of the Blitz logo in a single module. All new Opel models are supplied with the Vizor, adding the new Astra and Astra Sports Tourer.
The award-winning Manta GSe follows Opel’s “simply electric” path towards brand electrification. Whether it’s a passenger car or a soft advertising vehicle, each and every Opel style will be electrified until 2024.
Today, Opel consumers already have a choice of 12 electrified models, from plug-in hybrids such as the Astra, to the all-electric cars of the Corsa-e small car, the Zafira-e Life “show on wheels”, and from the Combo-e-Cargo to the Vivaro-e van and the exciting new Grandland.
