Toyota presented the Glanza sedan in a launch that was worth the diversity of Rs 7.22 lakh to Rs 8.90 lakh (delhi’s former showroom). Although there is not much to say about dimensions, exteriors, interiors or even differences in characteristics, the Glanza and Baleno have some difference in terms of value and variations. With so many similarities and so little difference between the two, it can be a little confusing. So let’s take a look at the main points to see which one you buy.
Visual
Literally, there is nothing to distinguish the Toyota Glanza from the Maruti Baleno, the grille that receives 3 strips of chrome instead of the blackened mesh trend in the Baleno. Of course, the two hatchback cars carry the logo of their respective brands on the grille, while the hood, bumper, appearance profile and alloy wheels do not change. The rear, however, shows a clearer difference because the Glanza has a Toyota badge in the middle of the trunk canopy with the car call in the left corner and the variant call on the right. Both cars also have the same color options.
Inside, the multifunction guide wheel unit remains unchanged, albeit with the logo of its respective brand. Glanza’s 7-inch touchscreen unit comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, making it the first Toyota in India to take advantage of connectivity features.
However, there is a slight update to the nomenclature because the infotainment unit is called Smart Playcast in Glanza, while in Baleno it is called SmartPlay Studio. The Toyota Glanza and Maruti Baleno are supplied with the telematics of their respective brands. The Baleno gets Suzuki Connect, while the Glanza gets Toyota Connect.
Variations and features
The Maruti Baleno is available in a selection of 4 variants: Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. On the other hand, the Toyota Glanza can only be had in two variants founded on the Baleno-G (founded on the Zeta) and the V (founded on the Alpha). The number of glanza characteristics is the same as the corresponding baleo variants.
When the Maruti Baleno is with a CVT transmission only from the Delta variant from the moment to the base, the Glanza achieves it with the G and V variants.
Powertrain
The Baleno comes with a choice of 3 engine features: a 1.2-liter VVT, a Dual Jet 1.2 comfortable hybrid gasoline engine and the 1.3 DDiS diesel shown. The Toyota Glanza borrows any of the features of Baleno’s gasoline engine, but not diesel. Both cars come with a 5-speed manual transmission, but a CVT is also offered, but only with 1.2-litre VVT gas. Here’s a look at the engine specifications.
What are you buying?
First, let’s take a look at the ex-showroom Delhi pricing of the Toyota Glanza and Maruti Baleno’s corresponding petrol variants.
In a variant-to-variant price comparison, it is the Glanza that makes the most sense. While all glanza variants are priced the same, its hybrid variant of soft G gasoline is 65,000 Rs less expensive than the corresponding Baleno variant, making it an undisputed winner. However, please note that the price of Glanza is initial. So, if you plan to buy your car right away, the Glanza would be a much higher price proposition now than in the future, when your costs will pass.
Another thing in favor of Glanza is its 3 year / 1 lakh km warranty compared to the 2-year / 40,000 km warranty for the Maruti Baleno. For peace of mind, Baleno buyers can get a general five-year/1 lakh km warranty, while Toyota will allow you to increase it in the same five years, but with 2.20 lakh km. In addition, Toyota also offers a three-year RSA (roadside assistance) loose service with Glanza. All those after-sales services and more affordable costs make the Toyota Glanza a greater selection in our books.
