The Glanza will be the first to come out of the Toyota-Suzuki deal.
While Glanza will be manufactured through Maruti, it will be sold and maintained through Toyota.
You will only have one gasoline engine; 5-speed manual and CVT options.
It could be valued at a higher price in the Baleno; scheduled for launch in early June 2019.
Toyota may be offering a larger popular warranty package to the Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
Last year, Toyota and Suzuki signed an agreement to cross-reference models and fill gaps in their respective portfolios. The next Toyota Glanza is the first result of the partnership. The Glanza is Toyota’s edition of the Baleno, the first of many models to be shared between the two Japanese brands in India. Here are five things you want to know about Toyota’s next high-end sedan:
1) It will look like the Baleno: Toyota recently launched a preview of Glanza, which has practically shown that the glanza’s design will be largely similar to the Baleno. Distinctions are expected to be made by adjusting the grille and bumpers. Toyota can also replace headlights and taillights, however, that’s the magnitude of the replacements. The proposed alloy wheels will also be identical, with the exception of the Toyota logo, which replaces the Suzuki logo in the center. Also expect a similar story inside, the Glanza looks a lot like the Baleno.

2) You won’t get a diesel engine: with automakers, Adding Maruti Suzuki, deciding to abandon the diesel engines given the new popular BS 6 emissions that will take effect from April 2020, Toyota is unlikely to offer the Glanza with a diesel powertrain The Glanza is expected to be offered with Baleno’s new DualJet Dual VVT 1.2-liter petrol engine with lightweight hybrid technology. You’ll get a CVT option in addition to a popular manual. If you get the new DualJet petrol engine with CVT, it would be exclusive to Glanza as the Baleno with DualJet can only be obtained with a manual.
3) Reservations, launch and variants: Reservations for Glanza are expected to open in the first week of June, preferably at the same time as the tailgate is introduced in India. Expect it to appear in the first or second week of June. Toyota will offer it in some variants. While Baleno’s high-end Alpha would probably be there, Glanza’s fundamental variant may be Baleno’s mid-range Delta or the penultimate Zeta. It is very likely that Glaza will be in the fundamental Sigma variant of the Baleno.
4) List of appliances and prices: The list of Glanza devices shall be similar to the respective variants of the Baleno. Safety features such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, front seat belts with pretensioners and load limiters, as well as recalls, ISOFIX child seat anchors, rear parking sensors, high speed caution will be standard, just like in Baleno.
Baleno’s mid-range Delta variant, for example, offers several high-end features, such as LED projector lamps with LED lighting accessories and automatic air conditioning. Meanwhile, the high-end Alpha comes with many benefits, such as a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, UV-cut lenses, DRL, a rear view camera, etc. Therefore, expect the Glanze to have many functions. offering, just like the Baleno.
That said, Glanza is most likely to attract a slight premium over the respective Baleno variant. Available in Delta and Zeta with a manual transmission, the Baleno DualJet Dual VVT is priced at Rs 7.25 lakh and 7.86 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
One of the reasons for high-end positioning may be the comfortable CVT hybrid powertrain, which is expected in the Glanza but not has with the Baleno. In addition, we expect Toyota to offer a higher popular guarantee than Maruti to justify the expected top price. Maruti be offers the Baleno with a 2-year / 40,000 km warranty, while Toyota offers its cars such as the Yaris and Etios Liva with a 3-year / 1,00,0000 km warranty. The Glanza come with a popular guarantee just like their brothers.
5) First result of Toyota-Suzuki partnership: The Glanza is the first product to come out of the Toyota-Suzuki partnership and it won’t be the last. Also in the pipeline are rebadged versions of the Vitara Brezza, Ciaz and Ertiga. Like the Glanza, expect all these ‘borrowed’ models to feature a few design distinctions to tell them apart. The Glanza will be manufactured at Maruti’s manufacturing plant, but will be sold and serviced at Toyota dealerships.
Essentially, the Glanza will be a Maruti in the center and it would be unwise to expect it to feel like a Toyota upside down. However, being sold and maintained in Showrooms and Toyota Service Centers, and receiving a greater popular warranty would give you some of the features of a Toyota. So you think the Glanza will have enough to guarantee a Toyota badge?
