Higher with advanced fuel economy
Increased towing capacity, revised style and new features
On sale as of August 27
Toyota has expanded the appeal of its seven-seat Fortuner SUV with more strength and torque, increased fuel consumption, increased towing capacity with brakes, superior levels of appliances, parking and a revamped design.
Fortuner’s latest technical advances gain advantages from updates that have also been implemented in HiLux.
Announcing the highlights of the 2020 facelift, Toyota Australia Vice President Sean Hanley said the company’s commitment to making ever-larger cars has made Fortuner even more at home, on the road or off the road.
“Fortuner is a wolf-like thing disguised as a sheep: it has the space, convenience and convenience of a high-end SUV, while its sturdy foundations make it an enthusiastic off-road explorer in position for any adventure,” Hanley said.
“Our continuous improvement in automobiles ensures that Fortuner will thrive in Australia’s challenging environments as a diesel option for Kluger and a selection for those who aspire to have a LandCruiser.”
Despite significant technical and curtain improvements, Fortuner’s retail value continues to begin below the $50,000 threshold at $49,0801. The new diversity reaches the local showrooms from August 27.
An advanced engine provides 20 kW and 50 Nm more torque from Fortuner’s 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine, bringing the maximum force to 150 kW and 500 Nm.
The jump of functionality comes from a new water-cooled physically powerful ball bearing turbocharger with a newly developed nozzle pallet mechanism, as well as measures to increase engine stiffness, cooling and efficiency.
However, particularly high yields, implemented on the road through a six-speed automatic transmission, are obtained at the expense of the economy with 11.6% fuel intake relief over the official combined cycle2.
Consumption of only 7.6 liters / hundred km2 gives a theoretical diversity of more than 100 km from the 80-litre fuel tank. The improvement is even greater in the urban cycle with 9.1 liters / one hundred km2, a relief of 17.3%.
The combination of the most powerful yet fuel-efficient engine with Fortuner’s rugged chassis, helical suspension and forged upper frame raise the maximum towing capacity of the brakes from 300 kg to 3100 kg3.
Maneuverability has also benefited from a new variable flow force guide pump that provides more assistance at parking speeds while providing a more direct feel at road speeds. Rear differential locking continues to deliver off-road performance.
Extended protection features come with the addition of front parking sensors that, along with existing rear sensors, alert the driving force to approach objects.
Complex Toyota Safety Sense technologies come with a pre-collision protection formula with pedestrian detection (day and night) and cyclists (day) 4, lane departure alert with guide assist4 and high-speed active cruise control4.
The 3 categories of Fortuner devices (GX, GXL, and Crusade) gain advantages from external style changes, adding a revised front segment focused on a larger black grille. A redesigned reduced front bumper has been split to produce a “protective plate” for a more powerful and more built-in look. Thinner bi-LED headlights also contribute to the “elegant” look, while the Crusade features high-quality headlights and an elegant new taillight design. GX and GXL retain their 17-inch alloy rim, while Crusade receives a newly designed 18-inch alloy with a flange beam design.
Inside, the GX and GXL interiors have been replaced by a dark grey fabric, while the cross leather accented interior is in black or tawny.
Instrument dials have a new source and a satin end on the outer rings, while the 4.2-inch multi-information demonstration now provides the front tire angle and DPF status.
New features in diversity come with an 8-inch (1-inch) multimedia demonstration that works with touch buttons. The formula now comes with access to Apple CarPlay®5, Android Auto ™ 6 and the myToyota app, as well as enhanced voice activation.
Other devices include an air-conditioned cooler, audio and phone controls mounted on the guide wheels, a soft-touch dashboard, an oscillating and sliding seat in the second row 60/40, a tilting and telescopic guide column, and six four -Rail drive force and front passenger seat adjustments.
GX can be specified with satellite navigation7 and DAB8 virtual radio for $1,000 1. These features are popular on the GXL, which also benefits from automatic air conditioning. Other popular GXL appliances include keyless smart entry and start, roof rails, fog lighting fixtures (now LED), privacy glass and manual descent control.
An optional $2,5001 GXL package comes with leather-trimmed seats and eight-way electric front seats, either on the Crusade. The high-end style now features an electrochromatic rearview mirror and darker wood moldings in the center console, plus other luxury features that come with an electric back door and a high-end JBL®99 with 11 speakers. audio system.
