The one who housed the beloved Cadillac Lounge, The Red Light and Gandhi are back with new owners and twists
The Caddi resurrected the Parkdale courtyard of the Cadillac Lounge
COVID-19 hasn’t been easy at Toronto’s bars and restaurants. Even with Stage 3 allowing them to reopen at reduced capacity, either indoors and outdoors, many will not move on to the other aspect of the pandemic.
But despite everything, new squares still open in the city. They are even resurrected in some dear positions that have been closed in recent months.
The Cadillac Lounge saga has been developed for years. Then, despite all last summer, the former Parkdale Bar and Music Hall in Queen West is now being considered as the site of a long-term imaginable hotel.
In the midst of it all, the other people Paris Paris (and also Superpoint and Favorites) stored what was the maximum seductive look of the Cadillac Lounge (apart from the old-fashioned car on the panel): the charming backyard.
Now renamed The Caddi (1296 Queen West), the remotely friendly dining position is a position for beers, fish fry and basketball. Ephemeral dinners are also presented through guests, such as BB’s Diner (also closed) and a sister at Flora’s Deli.
The red appeased another COVID victim, the end after an 11-year career at Dundas West. One of the first stylish irrigation problems in the western stretch of Ossington, also hosted regular DJs and the first performance of jazz/hip-hop/local badBadNotGood lounge.
This area at 1185 Dundas West is no longer extraordinary. The bar is what your call says, a no fries position for a decent beer and fries. It is also a position to attend level 3 exhibits. The small backyard now hosts a series of comedy exhibits on Wednesday nights called The Nothing Fancy Show. Places are very limited, so you will need to make an ebook in advance via Instagram DM.
Toronto’s pioneering roti store, Gandhi, closed its doors in June, ending a 25-year career as a favorite in the city. But the roti is back at 554 Queen West, with Roti Mahal serving northern Indian roti from chefs Gigi Jacob and Prodip Das, who continue Gandhi’s delicious South Asian tradition.
You can see the full menu of the new Roti restaurant, which opened on August 14, here.
