The Maryland Attorney General’s Office decided that the incident did not meet the parameters of an officer-involved death. The site of the twist of fate was more than 3 km from the site of the attempt to stop traffic.

Investigators would later discover that the vehicle in question was previously hijacked by an armed kidnapping in the city of Greenbelt, police said.
