Volvo Penta (part of the Volvo Group) introduced a new edition of an electrified chimney truck of the future, developed in collaboration with chimney service vehicle manufacturer Rosenbauer.
Both had been working on the task for some time, while the first concept, the Concept Fire Truck (CFT), was revealed in early 2019.
The vehicle is now supplied with Volvo Penta’s electric transmission, which, according to the press release, appears to be a plug-in hybrid with an internal combustion engine diversity extender (in hybrid standard configuration).
Supplied with two electric motors, one compatible with the axle, for all-wheel drive and an undisclosed electric garage system, smart enough “for an electric with enough time to run at the rescue site”. We can assume that the length of the battery will have to be huge.
The diesel engine is just a backup, “in case the driving or operation takes longer than expected”, which means it will operate in fully electric and emissions-free mode.
The Volvo Penta belongs to the Volvo Group and can easily use the EV generation developed through Volvo buses and trucks.

Once the “intensive testing” is completed, the new truck with fireplace will incorporate the genuine visitor with the chimney departments of Berlin, Amsterdam and Dubai.
We can assume that a secondary feature of an electrified chimney truck is the ability to offer a quiet energy export service to supply other appliances on site.

The electrical transmission offers the right functionality. The new truck with fireplace aims to respond to global megatrends, such as climate change, demographic replacement and urbanization, and its effect on the work of chimney service. Firefighters who answer a call want a vehicle capable of maximum speed, immediate acceleration, sudden braking and maneuverability. Rt’s electric transmission, combined with a separate suspension and hydropneumatic chassis, provides superior protection point and correct driving functionality.
The Volvo Penta-powered RT truck will help chimney departments around the world reduce fuel prices, protection and functionality. Each truck axle runs on an electric motor and the electric garage formula allows for an electric ride in sufficient time to run at the rescue site. In addition, the new electric motor truck is supplied with a diesel backup engine in case the adventure or operation takes longer than expected.

This is work, as the electric transmission is the center of the electric vehicle. The result is a Volvo Group generation solution designed to meet Rosenbauer’s needs.
