What you see above is a very pink Maserati. In fact, it is a very pink Maserati Grecale Barbie. It’s the newest in a long line of Barbie cars that come with the Jeep (naturally), Porsche 930, VW Beetles, Chevy Corvettes, Fiat 500, Mustang, and many more.
We can say that Barbie’s tastes vary, some good, some bad, and most commonly pink. Barbie’s newest mobile, this Barbie Maserati Grecale lives like a Grecale Trofeo, equipped with a 523-horsepower V6, all-wheel drive and a speed of 3. 6 seconds from 0 to 60 mph. Pleasant.
However, where the Barbie Maserati Grecale is headed is probably more important than it is. What you see above is one of two and will sell for $330,000 as a component of Nieman Marcus’ Fantasy Gift collection, with a portion of the sales going to charity. That charity is the Barbie Dream Gap Project, which promotes equality for women around the world. Very beautiful. (Maserati hasn’t yet said where the Maserati Barbie is currently headed, but it’s probably not reasonable either. )
The Maserati Barbie is also a show for the automaker’s Fuoriserie personalization program that allows shoppers to customize their cars. (Note to readers: if you opt for pink, make a white interior for us, please?) A coat that reflects a rainbow on a sunny day, according to Maserati. There are also Barbie logos in case pink is rarely enough.
Of course, Maserati Barbie is slated with next year’s Barbie movie, starring Margot Robbie as the woman herself and Ryan Gosling as Ken.
