Tesla officially announced the “juniper” soda of the model and, less than a day after the unbashed images of the vehicle revealed online.
The refreshed Model Y, called the Juniper, has been awaited for some time and is expected to come with plenty of innovations to update the 2023 Model 3.
In October, Chinese social media said the refresh was about to enter trial production, and just days later we saw a photo of the refreshed Model Y outside the Shanghai factory. Then last month, we heard that mass production would start in Shanghai in January.
And although Tesla said in 2024 that there is no update of the model and “this year”, 2024 already ends and the update is here.
Today, Tesla updates its Chinese online page (and others in the Asia-Pacific region) with all the data on the model and updated, with many of the same innovations as model 3 Riceface as a quieter cabin, superior efficiency, superior efficiency, More performance, environmental lighting and rear screen.
According to Tesla’s site, the new Model Y can achieve 719km of range (446mi) in Long-range AWD spec with 19-inch wheels, but this is based in CLTC estimates, which are much more lenient than EPA. Previously the highest-range spec had 688km CLTC range, so that’s about a 20-mile improvement.
The 20 ″ wheels in the long -range edition will make 662 km, and the RWD batteries will respectively pass 593 km or 559 km on the 19 ″ and 20 ″ wheels, respectively.
We imagine this could translate to roughly ~350 miles of range on the top-spec Model Y on EPA ratings, but we’ll have to see when the car gets released in the US.
Acceleration has also been improved, Tesla says the giant-style AWD battery can succeed at 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4. 3 seconds, as opposed to a past 4. 9. The RWD edition does the same board in 5. 9 seconds. These two figures would be shorter for 0 to 60 times, due to those 2 more MPH at the end.
There is no performance version yet – just as with the post-refresh Model 3, which didn’t get a performance spec until later.
The external design is like the recommended developed photos, with the same rear end we saw in leaks in July and the front we saw earlier in the day. But now we can see it in the superior solution and in increased lighting.
The front-end presents a “Light Bar” of Cybercab/Cybertruck that the most classic headlights of the model 3 update, and have shrunk to eliminate the “duck lip” coup in the front of the hood.
Also in the front there is a new front bumper camera (once again, such as Cybertruck, but unlike style 3), which helps with parking and also offers an additional point of view for Tesla automatic software.
The inclusion of this camera, though the accuracy of Autopilot, leads to questions about whether cars in the past that don’t have a front bumper camera will be able to achieve the same point of accuracy as refreshed cars.
And the internal design adjustments are also almost as expected, the guide wheel has undergone less radical adjustments than some expected.
Early in the day, images were revealed, which suggests that the style would obtain a guide wheel “Squerclus” such as Cybertruck, which leads to the hypothesis that you can also obtain the guide formula through the Cybertruck wire. But it turned out that these images were only a 3 style with a custom guide wheel.
The actual interior of the Model Y maintains a circular steering wheel, which suggests that it won’t get steer by wire (the steer-by-wire specification isn’t listed on Tesla’s Chinese site for the car).
However, it has images that appear missing a guide column, which is a debatable feature of Style 3.
However, looking closer at the steering wheel, the turn signal buttons from the Model 3 are not present. It looks like Tesla has included a vestigial turn signal stalk hiding behind the steering wheel, and just deleted the PRND drive mode stalk.
For some reason, this rotation sign bar is not visual in any image of the Chinese site of Tesla, only in its right transmission regions as its Hong Kong site, where a small left stem is visual in the RHD edition, Hong Kong of the vehicle is going to hunt in the car in the Singapore edition of the site, the stem is still hidden in images for any territory to the left.
Even if a single upper part is eliminated, it is a debatable change, because the amendment of the reader’s ways through the screen is not the maximum popular functionality, however, the elimination of the sign sign was burdensome and it is intelligent to see it again . We ask ourselves if style 3 can obtain this improvement in all likelihood, or if it will be another in other regions.
Tesla says that the new “acoustic glass” in the model and reduces internal noise. Model 3 has also achieved this improvement, and the tests show a significant improvement in grades of interior noise as a result.
The Model Y receives other interior improvements seen on the 3, like a screen for the rear seat. The Cybertruck also includes this screen.
This shot also shows the ambient lighting LED strip across the dash, which can be customized through the vehicle’s UI.
Another improvement in the back is the power rear seats, it used a button on the trunk. This button provides less difficult access to the rear garage space, allowing owners to fold the rear seats up or down while loading or unloading cargo.
The Chinese of Tesla calls those seats as “anti -rave”, however, it is not clear precisely what innovations could be in this regard. The seats are ventilated.
The first deliveries are scheduled for March in China, regulatory approval of themes, the Tesla configurator states that “the express delivery date will vary according to the configuration and location of the collection and other reasons. “
Tesla gives a “launch series” of the vehicle, which he did with many of his cars, but has not done so in the United States with model 3 / y. It includes exclusive design elements and badges “launch series” in parts of the vehicle.
The base price of this launch series is 263,500 yuan, or $35,900. That’s about a 5% increase from the previous base price of 249,900 yuan ($34k USD).
Other markets in the Asia-Pacific region will also get the car soon, such as Australia, which is expected to begin to receive cars in May. While Tesla’s Europe and North America do not mention the update.
As for the other regions, they will probably have to wait. The style 3 refresher first released in Europe, and the United States had to wait for months. This is likely to have new American costs on Chinese-built cars (which are a bad idea). So, given his excursion in China, we wouldn’t touch a North American outing before the middle of this year.
What do you think about the redesign, now that we’ve seen more about it? Let us know in the comments.
As I wrote in the Take segment of our leaked photo post before today, this update is necessary, because not only has the Model 3 had a lot of innovations that the Model Y hasn’t received in the last year and a part more or less, still, still. Tesla is recently having a bad state with sales.
The company just wrapped up a year in which its sales fell for the first time since 2011, when Tesla only sold the low-production roadster. This has happened despite the global global market of EV market to new heights, even though Tesla, the world’s largest EV manufacturer (barely) has made its component to drag the EV market out of the market through not relying on the rest.
Part of the explanation for why is due to expired styles: Style is Tesla’s most productive style, it’s starting to feel a bit long in the tooth, specifically given the Style 3 updates. Therefore, we wondered earlier in the Day if the refreshment of the style can reignite Tesla’s expansion.
The front, ok. The back, Meh. The interior, which is expected after m3. The stem, an intelligent replacement for what it deserves to have been. Technical adjustments to transmission and battery? I see nothing new, in fact, it has the same maximum rate of 250kw for the LR it had before. Honestly, its competition is more commonly in an 800 V architecture and increases up to 300kw Peak position.
But those are just models. After all, Tesla has just finished its first full year of Cybertruck production, which is a new model, but its polarizing nature has led to disappointing sales figures.
That polarization is not helped by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is doing his best to harm the company and say phenomenally stupid things or make ridiculous promises basically every day (or every few minutes). His idiotic behavior is turning away customers, whether he believes it or not.
Perhaps the company, the inventory, would be greater if it had renounced its inventory and Tesla had a genuine CEO, so it can go wrong in video games on Twitter all day (as it already does).
