‘This is epic’: Skoda unveils entry-level electric vehicle that will soon rival two main competitors

ŠKODA has unveiled its next entry-level vehicle, which is expected to debut soon to rival two main competitors.

The Czech logo promises “something epic” in a shiny new trailer posted on social media.

The new Skoda Epiq is expected to be compatible as a base 4×4 model, priced at around £21,000 according to Autocar.

It is expected to go head-to-head with the new Fiat Panda and Renault Four models, offering superior quality at a price.

A concept video of the car shows its SUV design, which is reminiscent of other Skoda stories of good fortune such as the Enyaq.

The logo boasts a range of around 400 kilometres on a single charge and a garage capacity of 490 litres.

Billed as an “urban crossover SUV,” it will seat another five people while still being nimble and narrow enough to negotiate stops and starts, lasting just under 13. 5 feet.

It will be built in Spain with a design developed through Cupra, one of Skoda’s many sister brands under the umbrella of the VW Group.

Inside, as is trending in EVs, the styling emphasizes minimalism, with almost everything controlled via a giant touchscreen in the middle of the dashboard.

The surfaces are adorned with orange LED lights, which stand out brightly against the black and gray vinyl interior.

A special feature is the “Simply Clever” compartments spread throughout the engine, adding a hidden garage area in the boot floor and a wireless phone charger installed in the “floating” center console.

And the Epiq will arrive faster than you think, with the style slated for a 2025 date.

Oliver Stefani, Head of Design at Skoda, said: “Our new design language, Modern Solid, represents the next point of modernity. Smart capability and practicality are harmoniously balanced through attractive new looks and our commitment to sustainability.

“The design of the Škoda Epiq perfectly embodies all the key attributes of the new design language. “

His praise resonated with CEO Klaus Zellmer, who added: “The next Škoda Epiq will include many attractively priced cars and a giant interior with a compact size.

“Our choice is consumers, so we are expanding our developing e-mobility portfolio to this popular segment.

“I hope those early design advancements will prove that Epiq will shine with its modern design, reach, and easy-to-use technologies, all at an affordable price. “

This comes after two major car brands announced they would join forces to take on the festival of new rivals.
