This thing has 1,000 horsepower in a street-legal vehicle.
Hummer has some serious competition. Scarbo Vintage has unveiled its third electric vehicle, the SV Rover, which has more power than GMC’s big Hummer EV. The California-based automaker claims that the SV Rover is the “world’s first road-legal hypertruck,” which is still an explained vehicle segment. It does, however, embody the functionality expected of the hypercar label when it comes to desert racing.
Scarbo Vintage claims that the SV Rover was originally meant to be a desert racing truck, particularly designed for Baja racing, but later updated its design to make it road-legal. That means you might see this monster of an electric truck on off-road trails, but also on the highway.
It’s a truck.
Joe Scarbo, chief executive of Scarbo Vintage, says the SV Rover represents a mix of nostalgic British design and trendy American power and technology. It’s not hard to see inspiration from old-school Land Rovers, but the SV Rover has a lot more oomph. The two-seater truck is powered by a 750 kW powertrain that equates to more than 1,000 horsepower. The SV Rover is powered by a 75 kWh lithium-ion battery, which is as large as the Hummer’s, but likely much lighter.
To help the SV Rover handle rough terrain, it has 30-inch wheels and air suspension with ride height control and adjustable valves. The 40-inch tires are paired with 20-inch wheels and a six-piston braking formula with carbon ceramic. rotors and frame is constructed with carbon fiber and aluminum.
Inside the SV Rover, there’s a 12. 3-inch gauge cluster and a 12. 8-inch multimedia display. Don’t expect more sophisticated features, as it only offers push-button start, climate controls, forced door locks, forced windows, and rear. shipping space. After all, this thing is designed for hitting rough trails and doesn’t need fancy HUDs or wireless charging.
The SV Rover’s interiors are pretty critical to its high-performance build.
According to Scarbo Vintage, the SV Rover took 14 years to design and expand, but it’s available nonetheless. The electric truck must be ordered on the company’s website, but each of them will be made to order at prices starting at $1. 5 million.
If you don’t have a million dollars, you can make trade-offs with more affordable features that possibly won’t give you as much performance. There’s still the Tesla Cybertruck, which is still meant to take care of short, off-road trips on the water.
