We’re talking about this 1974 BMW 3.0 CS, which is the first European style of tuner. It was built for Robert Downey Jr., who in the past had used SpeedKore to build a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro and a 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302.
According to the company, Downey approached them with the concept of merging fashionable fabrics with a vintage European style. That said, this is not the typical SpeedKore structure because the car “mainly” helps maintain its steel body. However, there is still a lot of carbon fiber for the car, adding bumpers and sun loungers.

The car also features traditional paint jobs, a wooden vein belt and Cerakoté titanium grey details. Other highlights come with a traditional rear stud and forged HRE wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires. They are backed by a Brembo braking formula that comes with six-piston stirrups at the front and four-piston stirrups at the rear.
The exclusive taste continues in the cabin, as SpeedKore and Gabe’s custom interiors have created an Italian-inspired cabin with brown leather and seats with “woven pebble” inserts. There is also a retro-inspired dashboard with Classic Instruments indicators, a hidden touchscreen infotainment formula and wraparound molding.
Elsewhere, there is a Lamborghini-inspired support care and a padded trunk that includes a leather-lined Yeti cooler. Downey also removed the back seat and replaced it with a “custom packing shelf, with matching luggage.”
Power is provided through a six-cylinder engine with natural suction of an E34 M5. SpeedKore went into detail, however, the S38 engine had 3.5 and 3.8-liter engines depending on the year of style and market.
Assuming the engine went from an M5 to U.S. specifications, it is likely to be a 3.5-liter inline six-cylinder with 311 hp (232 kW/ 315 hp) and 266 lb-ft (360 Nm) of torque. In any case, it relates to a four-speed automatic transmission.
