A new organization of wealthy travelers will set up shop at the luxurious White Lotus Hotel when HBO’s “The White Lotus” returns for its third season.
Since its premiere in 2021, Mike White’s “The White Lotus” season has focused on a new organization of wealthy people who visit the titular hotel chain, but not all of them come out alive. And a recently released trailer for the third season of “The White Lotus” indicates that at least one character will end up in a frame bag.
Here’s what to expect when the Emmy-winning anthology series returns for its third season.
The first season took place in Hawaii and the season took place in Sicily, Italy. In a report published after the end of the second season, White hinted that Asia would be his next destination.
“The first season focused on money, and then the second season focused on sex,” he said. “I think the third season would perhaps be a fun, satirical look at Eastern death, faith and spirituality. It seems like it may just be a rich tapestry to carry some other circular to White Lotus. “
In March, Variety reported that season three would take place in Thailand.

Throughout the season, Jennifer Coolidge’s character, Tanya McQuoid, trained Belinda and gave her hope that it would fund her dream of a wellness center.
Tanya eventually abandoned the deal, leaving Belinda disillusioned.
Variety first reported Rothwell’s return in April. She teased season three during an interview with Vanity Fair at the LA premiere of Wonka in December, saying that she “gasped out loud a minimum of five times” while reading the scripts.
“The scripts are a testament to Mike’s ability and ability to tell stories that are as wise and entertaining as possible,” Rothwell said. “I mean, everything he does is like a lesson for me as an actor and performer. And like myself, he takes people on a journey. Everyone wants to buckle up, because it will become real!”
The first official trailer for the third season of “The White Lotus,” released Monday, which Belinda is finishing up at the White Lotus hotel in Thailand as part of an exchange program.
HBO announced the following castings in January: Leslie Bibb (“American Housewife”), Dom Hetrakul, Jason Isaacs (“Harry Potter”), Michelle Monaghan (“Mission: Impossible”), Parker Posey (“Beau Is Afraid”), Tayme Thapthimthong, and Carrie Coon (“The Gilded Age”).
Five more actors were added at the end of the month: Walton Goggins (“Fallout”), Sarah Catherine Hook (“First Kill”), Sam Nivola (“Maestro”), Patrick Schwarzenegger (“Gen V”) and AimeeArray Lou Wood. (“Sex education”).
In February, Variety reported that Blackpink member Lisa had also joined the cast and would be credited under her given name, Lalisa Manobal.
Little is known about the characters, but Manobal will be playing a staff member at the Thai resort.
Character descriptions released by HBO shared more insights into who the actors will be playing in the new season.
Bibb, Coon and Monaghan play three old friends at a girls’ club who haven’t noticed each other in a long time; Goggins and Wood play a couple of other ages; and Isaacs and Posey play a husband and wife duo on vacation with their 3 children, played by Schwarzenegger, Hook and Nivola.
Patravadi plays one of the White Lotus, Manobal plays a fitness mentor for resort guests, and Thapthimthong plays a security guard.
The season follows the characters for a week.
“It’s going to be an oversized ‘White Lotus,'” White told Entertainment Weekly in November. “It’s going to be longer, bigger and crazier. I don’t know what other people are going to think, but I’m really excited. So, at least by my own barometer, it’s a smart thing to do. “
It’s unclear if White’s comment means that the season will contain more episodes or that the episodes will be longer — or both.
Schwarzenegger shared similar sentiments, telling Business Insider in November that the latest installment is “absolutely fucking insane.”
Season three, which will consist of eight episodes, was filmed in and around Koh Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok.
The new season will begin on Sunday, February 16 at nine at night. ET on HBO and will stream on Max.
