The rumors, however, have been confirmed: the third season of the hit HBO TV series “The White Lotus” is coming to Thailand.
In statements released this week, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and HBO announced that filming for the show, created through Mike White, will begin in February in Bangkok, Phuket and Ko Samui.
Although the third installment of the satirical comedy-drama likely won’t air until 2025, TAT is already looking forward to the highlight of “White Lotus” and has partnered with HBO to film and sell the award-winning film. show.
“We feel revered to be able to showcase Thailand as a filming location for the highly anticipated upcoming season of ‘The White Lotus,'” TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool said in a press release.
“The kingdom’s exotic natural beauty, rich ancient sites, and varied landscapes provide the best setting to share our engaging culture, cuisine, world-class wellness and luxury offerings, and most importantly, our Thai people and hospitality. “
Janet Graham Borba, Executive Vice President of Production, HBO
The choice of Thailand, one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the world, is really the right one. As fans of the popular series know, seasons one and two were set in luxury hotels in two charming locations: Hawaii and Sicily.
Throughout both seasons, visitors and workers at a luxury hotel enjoy a transformative week, as truths about the characters’ likely idyllic lives are revealed.
The Four Seasons houses represented the fictional White Lotus hotel in the destinations.
During the first season, the audience was transported to the charming Four Seasons Resort Maui in Wailea. For the second season, the exhibition headed to the cliff-top Palazzo San Domenico, a five-star hotel operated by Four Seasons in the city of Taormina, Sicily.
This has led to a lot of speculation online in recent months that the third season will take place at one of Thailand’s four Four Seasons properties, in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Koh Samui and Bangkok.
For now, the luxury hotel’s logo doesn’t confirm or deny the rumors: A press representative told CNN Travel that he’s commenting at the moment.
However, there’s a hint: the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui claims that there is no availability at the hotel from the beginning of February until the last week of March.
At the end of the first season of “White Lotus,” many fans were disappointed to learn that the characters would not be returning for the time being. In the end, Jennifer Coolidge returned to play the role of Tanya, a distraught but beloved wealthy traveler.
Once again, HBO announced a new slate for the third season of the anthology, but it will also bring back Natasha Rothwell to reprise her role as Belinda, who played the role of spa manager at the White Lotus hotel in Hawaii.
Among the actors in Season 3 announced via HBO, which, like CNN, is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, are Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul and Tayme Thapthimthong.
