The Toyota Innova mini is expected to be unveiled in 2022

Toyota and Suzuki are jointly developing a new C-segment minivan.

The MPV will compete with the Mahindra Marazzo.

In providing Marazzo has no direct rival in the country.

The partnership between Toyota and Suzuki is not just about reformulating existing models. The two brands also plan to expand new cars. In March 2019, the two brands announced that they would jointly expand what they call a “C-segment minivan” for India. Now, a report has revealed the timing of the MPV launch. Scheduled to succeed in Toyota’s showrooms in 2022, we expect the MPV to make its world premiere at the 2022 Automotive Exhibition.

But what does a “C-segment minivan” mean? We think it may be something similar to mahindra Marazzo that may be between Ertiga de Maruti and Toyota’s Innova Crysta. Like everyone on the planet, we have no doubt about Toyota’s ability to expand a minivan. However, in this case, it turns out that Suzuki depends on the percentage of his experience in the progression of a car that suits India in every sense of the word.

This leads us to believe that the upcoming SUV could be based on a monocoque platform like the Ertiga instead of a ladder-frame chassis like the Innova Crysta and the Marazzo. A monocoque vehicle is considered to be more cost-effective to build and is also lighter than ladder-frame offerings, which in turn makes it more fuel efficient as well. That aside, what we can say with some conviction is that this MPV will involve some sort of electrification, even if it’s a mild-hybrid setup.

Since we are still about 3 years away from the arrival of the model, we can say with certainty that lately it is only in the phase of progression. In fact, it takes a long time for a car to move from concept to production. So would you expect a more affordable Toyota minivan to evolve with Suzuki concepts or would you opt for the Marazzo? Let us know what you think in the comments segment below.
