More than 70 Seattle firefighters responded to a structure in the city of Columbia after it caught fire early Saturday morning.
The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) reported 911 calls around 2:38 a. m. m. for a structure fire on Claremont Avenue South.
Buehner: Fire season has accelerated due to heat wave
Initial chimney adjustments said flames spread through the structure, causing the chimney to become a 2-alarm chimney. Eight trucks with chimneys, six trucks with ladders and more help came. According to the SFD, more than 70 firefighters were mobilized.
The chimney reached a space north of the structure site and several parked cars to the south. The SFD said a power pole at Claremont Avenue South and South Walden Street also went through the flames, causing power lines to go down into the street.
Due to the intense heat, firefighters threw water from afar on the affected buildings and cars.
According to the department, the user who lived in the space in question was able to flee safely. As a precaution, other firefighters evacuated nearby homes and apartment buildings.
The SFD said the fire was out until 3:20 a. m. and Seattle City Light was able to shut off power to the structure site and secure the downed application pole and power lines.
A fire truck remained at the scene for a few hours to monitor possible outbreaks. The user who lived in the affected family will not be able to stay there, however, the rest of the members of the community have been able to return to their homes.

The branch said a woman was evaluated at the scene due to smoke exposure, but in good condition. Residents of the domain were asked to keep their windows and doors closed all morning due to the smoke.
The SFD said the fire is being investigated recently.
