The start-up of Xos electric trucks raises $20 million to increase production

A recent landmark resolution recently demands that more than one of all advertising trucks sold in California have 0 broadcasts through 2035. Xos is one of the many start-ups to build electric cars that can simply be corporations to achieve this goal.

Xos, formerly Thor Trucking, has developed a skateboard chassis for all-electric Class 6 trucks. Class 6 trucks are medium weight advertising trucks with a gross weight of 19,501 to 26,000 pounds. Its X platform is tested through UPS and Loomis in some electric trucks operating in Southern California. A Class 8 heavy truck, ET-One, will also be in production until the end of this year, according to the Los Angeles Business Journal.

The North Hollywood, California-based startup recently partnered with automotive equipment manufacturer Metalsa and announced a $20 million subsidized financing circular through an investor organization that includes Proeza Ventures, a venture capital company focused on subsidized mobility through the supplier’s parent company. This cycle, which ended the previous year and was only announced this week due to delays caused by the covid-19 pandemic, is the company’s first institutional investment cycle. Money entry will be used to boost technical operations and increase X-Platform production.

“While orders continue to arrive monthly, we are excited to meet the overwhelming demand for our medium and heavy trucks,” said Xos Trucks co-founder and chief operating officer Giordano Sordoni. “This investment is for the expansion of our team so that we can evolve to meet this call.”

Sordoni and Dakota Semler, CEO and co-founder of Xos, are still in their twenties and are alumni on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in the 2020 Manufacturing Industry category.
