Skoda’s apprentices have controlled to build a much more exciting Scala style than the five-door tailgate presented at dealerships across Europe.
It’s called Skoda Slavia and it’s just a concept car, which means you may not be able to buy one. It’s a shame, because Skoda vocational school scholars have done a very clever task by turning the mundane hatch into an exciting spider version.
Inspired by the 1957 Skoda 1100 OHC, the two-seater convertible racing car, the Slavia also marks the 125th anniversary of the company’s founding. Designed through 31 automaker school apprentices, Skoda’s seventh student concept car since 2014 is a bridge between beyond the present.

The name of the first motorcycles produced through Vaclav Laurin and V-clav Klement after the company’s founding in 1895, the Skoda Slavia convertible was designed and built entirely through students, from the first assignment to the final assembly.
As you can see, from the front to pillars A, the Slavia is the same as the Scala production model. However, things are very different from the A-mounts at the rear, with the Spider concept with two doors instead of four, homeless and a special long awning with speedometer stops paired the seats that are integrated into a new trunk lid with a rear bar.
The transformation of the Scala into a two-seater convertible required modifications, adding the reinforcement of the base, the welding of the rear doors in place, the redesign of the floor to accommodate a modified exhaust formula and the progression or source of new parts. 20-inch rims, for example, come from the Skoda Kodiaq RS, while the braking formula and wheel hubs come from the Octavia vRS.
The car’s display is painted in a white crystal blue color that contrasts with the black main dots on the aprons and stockings and is highlighted with neon blue details. Using programmable LEDs placed under the bottoms and alloys, the Slavia benefits from dynamic outdoor ambient lighting in the colors of the Czech flag: blue, red and white.
Popular-style remnants come with the 1.5-liter 150 hp (148 hp) TSI engine and the seven-speed, seven-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission, front and rear axles, steering, full electronics, additional wiring and manual transmission systems.
Inside, Virtual Cockpit’s virtual dashboard and infotainment formula also remained unchanged. Speaking of interiors, it has sports seats such as Sparco racing with four-point harness, perforated leather, black charcoal leather and contrasting white seams. A number of black and white leather surfaces are also present.
One detail is the black leather package shelf with two embroidered lions that give room to two built-in bass speakers. The subwoofer has a force of 2250 watts, and the remaining speakers add another 320 watts. In the trunk of Slavia, there is also room for two Skoda electric scooters.
